History: The Glencairn Museum in 1920's and 1930's
Today's Photo of the Day comes from the historic Glencairn Museum in Bryn Athyn.

Excavation for the foundation of Glencairn began in 1929, and construction continued throughout the Great Depression. In 1939, when the project was nearly complete, eighty-two workmen, artists and craftsmen wrote Raymond Pitcairn a letter of appreciation. The letter thanked Pitcairn for continuing to employ them “during the recent years of adversity and for “the opportunity of participating in an unusual and outstanding architectural achievement.”
