Huntingdon Valley Takes Down First-Place Horsham
Coming off a tough loss in its previous game, Huntingdon Valley bounced back strong with a 6-3 win over Horsham Tuesday night.

Behind the arm of pitcher Matthew Lawlor and the bat of Jared Licht, Huntingdon Valley came away with a 6-3 win over first-place Horsham on Wednesday night.
Lawlor, a sophomore from Cheltenham, went the distance scattering eight hits over seven innings with two strikeouts. Licht, a LM senior, went 2-for-2 at the dish with two runs and four steals to help HV improve to 4-3 on the season.
Horsham has now dropped two straights games after starting the season with seven straight wins.

"Lawlor pitched like a true veteran tonight, he wasnβt nervous and really picked us up, he was flat out awesome" HV head coach Evan Horn said. "The kid smiled between innings and really had the team at ease. What a great job Lawlor did (Wednesday night), he gave it his all and a pound of crispy bacon.β
HV gave Lawlor a nice cushion scoring three runs in the first inning. Licht lead off with a walk, then stole second and scored on an RBI single from leading hitter Nick Rittler (2-for-4). After a Jesse Goldstein infield single, team captain Jake Madnick sacrificed them both to 2nd and 3rd. Abington's Chris Ruhl did the job by driving them both in with a single up the middle to give his team a 3-0 lead.

"Our leadership is awesome,β Horn said. βLicht, Goldstein and Madnick have been great, they come to play every game like itβs their last and it is starting to show with the results in the win column. HV is having fun."
HV tacked on solo runs in the 3rd, 4th and 6th innings to pad its lead. Lawlor worked out of a big bases-loaded jam with no outs in the 2nd inning to only give up a single run.
Horsham scored single runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 7th innings. Leadoff man Anthony Mumenthaler was the only Horsham player with multiple hits going 2-for4 with an RBI.
"Well we are now 7 games into the season and it is someone different every night" Horn said. "We are playing really tough baseball, Horsham is the best team in the league (7-2 record) and we came out not scared at all and played HV baseball; single, steal a base and drive him in."
Β HV plays Friday night at The Morelanders when it sends team ace Brian Camp (3-0) to bump. Horshamβs next game is Saturday at the Morelanders at 2 p.m.
