HV American Legion Team Salvages Split Against Warminster

The Huntingdon Valley American Legion baseball team dropped the first game, 8-0, but rebounded to win 5-3 in the nightcap.

After a disappointing, 8-0 loss to Warminster in the first game of a doubleheader, the Huntingdon Valley American Legion team bounced back strong with a 5-3 victory in the nightcap to avoid falling under .500 for the first time all season.

HV (3-2) let its bats do the talking after the first game and responded with three runs in the top of the first in the second game. Jesse Goldstein led the charge going 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in the win. He was the only player with multiple hits in the nightcap.

Brian Camp pitched a strong seven innings, allowing three runs off nine hits to pick up the win.

"Again this was another team effort that gets it done," HV coach Evan Horn said. "The first game we where very flat and but the kids still tried everything possible to get something going, that shows the team leadership we have here. Even when things are going bad we still are trying our hardest to get something in the positive direction. Warminsters pitcher worked ahead on almost every batter and had his curveball breaking for strikes. Take your hat off to him he was awesome. Things dont always work out for the better but when the effort is there you cant complain"

HV tacked on solo runs in the third and fifth innings to pad its lead.
