Lower Moreland Boys XC Team Wins Third Straight District Championship
Competing at Lehigh University, the LM boys and girls cross country teams fared well in the District I AA Championships.
Make it three straight District I AA Cross-Country championships for the Lower Moreland boys.Β
Coach Dick Rapson's experienced team finished with with a score of 44, beating Christopher Dock by 13 and Devon Prep by 33 at Lehigh University last Friday. Lower Moreland junior Dan Alexander won the individual title, and the Lions were also able to place all five scorers in the top 14.
Alexander made a decisive move at the 2.5 mile mark and stormed to an impressive 14-second victory, finishing in a time of 16:28.Β Following Alexander were seniors Chris Moran (7th), Matt Alexander, (10th), Luke Castor (12th) and Mike Mangan (14th).Β

In the aftermath of his stunning win, Alexander could only comment βI canβt believe that just happened!βΒ
The Lions will next run in the PIAA State Championship on Saturday, Nov. 5 in Hershey, where they will look to improve upon their 5th-place finish from a year ago.
In the AA girls Championship, led by BAL Co-Coach of the year Mary Crossin, Lower Moreland junior Molly Davies ran a well-paced race to finish a strong second place and advance to the PIAA State meet next week in Hershey.Β

Davies, who was in 10th place in the early stages, moved up steadily throughout and finished in 19:33. Freshman Caroline Harmon finished 11th in a time of 20:34.
