LOWER MORELAND, PA β€” Police in Lower Moreland Township offer a student internship program each year to those young people in the community who are studying criminal justice at area colleges and universities.

The program began under the leadership of Chief David Scirrotto back in 2019, and a total of 14 students ended up participating from that inaugural year up until 2021, according to the department.

Three students are now beginning to enter into the program for the spring of 2022, and the police department is highlighting one of the participants for the month of February.

That student intern is Matthew Copti, a Penn State University undergrad majoring in criminal justice and minoring in accounting.

The police department says that Copti plans to eventually pursue a career in either federal, state or local law enforcement, and he has a particularly keen interest in white collar crime and focusing on the "inner workings of the falsification of financial information," the police department wrote in a Facebook post.
