LOWER MORELAND, PA — After a lengthy career in public service in the Lower Moreland community, police chief David Scirrotto has announced his retirement. He has accepted a position as chief of police in Buckingham Township in Bucks County.

Scirrotto, who has been with the force for 32 years, will officially depart at the end of May. He pointed to the current leadership in Lower Moreland as part of the reason he has achieved what he has during his tenure.

"I could not be prouder of the relationship we have built between our police department and the community," he said in his announcement. "I must tell you that it would not have been possible without the trust and support of Township Manager, Christopher Hoffman, and your current and previous Board of Commissioners, who allowed me to implement the vision for the modern police agency we have become."

Scirrotto added that Lower Moreland had become a "true leader in training, recruitment, community engagement, police services" throughout the greater area.

"None of this could have been accomplished without the commitment of our team of police officers and non-sworn staff I have had the incredible privilege to serve alongside," he said.
