Montgomery County Court House Holding 9/11 Ceremony

On Friday, Sept. 9, the Montgomery County Court House will hold a special ceremony to remember the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.

A ceremony marking the 10th Anniversary of September 11 will be held at the Montgomery County Court House at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 9 next to the Swede Street entrance to the Court House.
 
The ceremony will be conducted in front of the September 11 Memorial Statue, which features a dramatically twisted piece of steel superstructure from the World Trade Center cupped in a set of hands and held aloft.
 
The theme of the program is Remember the Past/Embrace the Future. It will feature speeches by Montgomery County Sheriff Eileen Behr, Montgomery County President Judge Richard J. Hodgson and Montgomery County Commissioners Chairman James R. Matthews.
 
It will also include a reading of the names of 11 people with close ties to Montgomery County who perished in the attacks. They are listed below.
 
Timothy D. Betterly, 42, son of Donald and Joan Betterly of Ambler. Former Bond Trader for Cantor Fitzgerald.
 
Christopher “Buddha” Clarke, 34, husband to Casey Clarke and the son of Janet Clarke of Villanova. Former Bond Trader and Managing Director at Sandler O’Neill.
 
Andrew Kates, 37, fomer Senior Managing Director for Cantor Fitzgerald. He grew up in Montgomery County and was a graduate of Cheltenham High School.
 
Alisha C. Levin, 33, sister to Mindy Gottenberg of Huntingdon Valley. Former Vice President of Human Resources for Fuji Bank.
 
Kathryn Blair Lee, 55, sister to Greg Bristow of Perkiomenville.
Former Senior Vice President of Marsh Inc.
 
Robert Francis Mace, 43, born in Pottstown, and lived in
New Hanover through high school. Former Assistant Counsel for Cantor Fitzgerald.
 
Noell Maerz, 29, son of Ralph and Patricia Maerz of Lansdale.
He worked for Euro Brokers in the World Trade Center. Noell was a standout athlete at Lansdale Catholic growing up.
 
Robert G. McIlvaine, 26, son of Robert K. and Helen McIlvaine of Oreland. Former Assistant Vice President of Media Relations for Merrill Lynch & Co..
 
Johanna Sigmund, 25, daughter of John and Ruth Sigmund of Wyndmoor. Former Investor Liaison at Fred Alger Management.
 
James J. Straine Jr., 36, son of James Straine Sr. of Ambler and
Mary Fineran Straine of Conshohocken. Former Bond Trader for Cantor Fitzgerald.
 
Sigrid Charlotte Wiswe, 41, sister to Birgit Wiswe and the daughter of Ute Bongers, both of Collegeville. Former Manager for American Express.
