Montgomery County Candidates Oppose Toll For Route 422

Another 'tax' is not the answer, says Montco commissioner candidates Jenny Brown and Bruce Castor

The following is an official press release:

BLUE BELL – Montgomery County Commissioner candidates Jenny Brown and Bruce Castor today announce their strong opposition to the proposed tolling of commuters on Route 422.

“The taxpayers have already paid for route 422, and tolling in this circumstance is not appropriate,” said Jenny Brown, a tax attorney and local business owner.

Bruce Castor, the lone anti-tax voice on the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, previously stated his opposition as an official whose support would be needed to institute a tolling plan for Route 422:

“I do not favor tolling on 422 generally as the road is the state’s responsibility, and I believe Montgomery County residents are taxed enough for their services in difficult economic times. A toll is a tax.” (The Times Herald: June 9, 2011.)
