A Pedestrian In Lower Moreland Was Seriously Injured After Being Struck By A Vehicle
The pedestrian, who is 61 years old, was reportedly sent to the hospital in critical condition and needed surgery following the incident.

LOWER MORELAND, PA — A 61-year-old woman was critically injured last week after she was struck by a vehicle while she was walking along the 3100 block of Philmont Avenue.
Lower Moreland Police say the vehicle-pedestrian crash occurred on Dec. 29 at around 12:15 p.m.
Police officers arrived on scene to find the woman seriously injured. She was subsequently transported to Abington Hospital where she underwent immediate surgery, police said. She was later listed in critical condition.

Investigators initially found that the vehicle, which had been traveling northbound on Philmont Avenue, failed to maintain its lane of travel and left the roadway when it was negotiating a curve at a high rate of speed.
After losing control of the vehicle, the driver went across a grassy area off of the roadway and struck the woman while she was walking along the sidewalk, according to police.

After hitting the woman, the vehicle continued for more than 160 feet before hitting a stone retaining wall, police said. The driver, whose name was not released, remained on scene and was interviewed by police.
There was no word on whether or not the driver would be facing any criminal charges in connection with the crash.
