October 6 β Theft
- Elkins Field β 2200 Huntingdon Pike
Police found Christopher McGivern, 30, of Philadelphia, at Elkins Field with his Ford Taurus stuck in the middle of the field in the rain. McGivern claimed his son was driving and got it stuck in the mud, but McGivern didnβt possess the keys to the car in order to get it off the field. He was covered in mud when police arrived as he was trying to push it off the field.
In front of the vehicle were four aluminum benches that had been removed from the bleachers. They were arranged as if McGivern was trying to use them as traction under the tires to get the car out of the mud.
Upon further questioning, McGivern admitted he had possession of the carβs keys, but threw them in a bush because he was scared. McGivern finally revealed that his son had nothing to do with the car and he was the one driving it. He also said he took the benches to use as scrap metal.
He was transported to Abington Police Headquarters. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Friday, Oct. 14, and his bail was set at $15,000/ten percent, which he was unable to post.Β Β
