Police Log: Multiple Heroin Stops, DUI and Burglary

The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

September 27 – Burglary

  • Miss Philly Grill – 2957 Philmont Ave.

Police were notified of a burglary at Miss Philly Grill on Philmont Ave. The actors broke in through the back door and cut the power line for the cash register with a pair of utility scissors. The register was moved into the kitchen where it was left there. All of the contents in the register, including $123.00, was taken except a roll ofpennies.

September 25 – DUI

  • Area of Pine Rd. and Huntingdon Pike

Dimitri Zangaladze, 36, of Philadelphia, was found sleeping at the wheel of his maroon Lexus at 1:49 a.m. Upon approacing the vehicle, officers saw a small, plastic bag with a green, leafy substance in it. That was confiscated and appeared to be marijuana.

While conducting a search of the car, police found a small plastic water bottle cap with a dried brown substance in it. Additionally, a small piece of cotton within the plastic cap was found. According to police, these items appear to be associated with heroin use. Zangaladze will be charged for violating PA Crimes Code related to possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, and DUI.

September 24 – Narcotics Possession – Morphine, Heroine

  • 3475 Huntingdon Pike – Citgo Gas Station

Police responded to a report of a reckless driver who pulled into the Citgo gas station at the corner of Huntingdon Pike and Byberry Rd. The car had a flat tire and the driver, Kevin Pearson, 28, of Warminster, was pulling the donut tire out of the trunk.

When speaking to Pearson, police noticed his pupils to be constricted and his speech was slow and slurred. A search of his PennDOT records revealed that he was only permitted to operate a car with an ignition interlock, which the Cadillac he was driving did not have.

While investigating, the officer noticed an orange hypodermic needle cap on the ground next to the car. The officer also saw a blue wax bag, of the type similar with heroin packaging. Pearson denied ownership of the items, but police also found cotton swabs in his pocket, also consistent with heroin use.

Officers then searched the passenger, Katie Allen, 24, of Warminster. They found a Wendy’s straw cut down to 2 inches, which also had a brown discoloration on it. Officers then asked her to empty her pockets, which revealed small, blue plastic bags.

Pearson will be charged with operating a vehicle not equipped with an ignition lock, a misdemeanor. Charges for DUI are pending and he’s also facing charges for possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending for Allen, who will be hit with a possession of drug paraphernalia charge.

September 24 – Narcotics Possession – Morphine, Heroine

  • Area of Byberry Rd. and Huntingdon Pike

LMPD observed a silver Honda CRV traveling at a high speed on Byberry Rd. and pulled over the driver, Kristina Stolyaruk, 21, of Southampton. While speaking with the driver, the officer noticed a 4’’ knife in plain view on the center console. The officer asked the passenger, Yuri Lyashcuk, 30, of Warrington to step out of the vehicle. As he walked out of the car, a second knife was seen by police.

While conducting pat downs, a large metal spoon was found on Lyashcuk in a black, leather pouch with a single-use syringe and he was arrested. Another search revealed small plastic bags in his wallet, which read, β€œready to rumble” on them. The bags contained blue wax, which contained a brown powder. According to reports, the blue wax bags are consistent with heroin.

A search of Stolyaruk revealed the same plastic bags hidden between her left breast and her bra with the same blue wax and β€œready to rumble” logo on it.

September 23 – Vehicle Accident

  • Intersection of County Line Rd. & Heaton Rd.

Marissa Piel, 20, of Warminster, and Erik Glick, 45, of Leola, were involved in an accident at the intersection of County Line Rd. and Heaton Rd. Piel was taken to the hospital and sustained a broken nose, lacerations to her face and bruising on her chest and waist from the seat belt.

The crash investigation revealed Glick failed to yield to Piel’s car, which was traveling eastbound on County Line Rd. Glick will be issued citations regarding stop signs and yield signs and carless drive under the PA Vehicle Code.

September 22 – Theft

  • Fairway Plaza – 2600 Philmont Ave.

Thomas Rohrbaugh, 22, reported that the center covers on all four wheels were missing from his car on Sept. 22. He also said his front left tire was slashed. He could not think of anyone that would do this to his vehicle, according to police. A report will be filed.

September 21 – Theft

  • CVS – 670 Welsh Rd.

A white male entered CVS at 4 p.m., brought a bottle of Ice Canyon water to the counter and then asked for two cartons of Newport cigarettes. The male then swiped a credit card through the machine and pretended to enter a pin number to make the payment. The transaction was void on the electronic device because the male didn’t use a legitimate credit/debit card, or because he didn’t know the correct pin number.

Before the employee was aware that no payment had been made, the male quickly walked out the front door. The total amount of the theft is $129.37. Employees describe the male as approximately 5’10’’, in his 30's, thin build, short dark hair, wearing a blue and tan baseball hat, gray button up short sleeve shirt, blue jean shorts and black sneakers with a white strip emblem. The male also had two piercings on his face, one in each corner of his mouth.
