Police Log: Heroin Bust at Discovery House, More Manor Care Theft and Criminal Mischief

October 18 – Narcotis Possession – Morphine/Heroin

• Discovery House, 2755 Philmont Ave.

Gerald Lee, 30, was stopped by police after a report of a reckless driver. The stop was made near the Discovery House, and Lee said he was the passenger and that the driver was inside the Discovery House. Lee was observed to be under the influence.

Witnesses near the Discovery House said they saw Lee throw two syringes behind a generator located behind 2755 Philmont Ave. Police found the syringes with suspected heroin residue on them. Police also found one Suboxone pill on Lee.  When taken back to the station, more Suboxone pills were found in Lee’s right sock.

The owner of the car parked at the Discovery House is Robert Lord, 30, of Bensalem. While Lee was at LMPD, officers responded to a suspicious male at Miss Philly Grille. The male was Lord, and he was taken into custody where police found a white, powdery substance believed to be cocaine. While searching the car, 12 syringes were found.

October 18 – Narcotics Possession - Marijuana

• Area of Chestnut St. & Huntingdon Pike

Christopher Beale, 28, of Philadelphia was charged with Disorderly Conduct after officers observed a wood smoking pipe and two zip-loc bags with a green leafy substance in it believed to be marijuana in his car. He and Laura Porreca, 25, were at Beth Ayres Tavern and admitted to drinking before getting in the car. The two were found in Porreca's car, but the marijuana was found in Beale's car which was parked down further on the street.

October 17 – Theft

• Manor Care Health Systems

Josephine Caliano, 98, is missing a gold engagement ring with one diamond which she had at some point while staying at Manor Care. Members of the Caliano family came to visit on Oct. 8 and noticed the ring had been replaced with a piece of a key chain that was copper colored. On Oct 16 when the family visited again, the situation was still the same. Employees at Manor Care are looking into the situation.

October 17 – Theft

• Manor Care Health Systems

Once again another theft report from Manor Care appears in the LM Police Log. This time, Joanne Gilorma, 70, told police that $45 was taken out of her lockbox in her room on Oct. 16. Joanne and Manor Care do not have any suspects at this time.

October 17 – Criminal Mischief

• Valley Christian School

Susan Caler, head of the Valley Christian School, reported property damage at the school between Oct. 16-17. Yellow stands that prevent cars from parking in the school bus lane were taken from the parking lot and placed in the playground area. Several stands were laying on the ground and one was broken. The stands are valued at $45. There were also several stickers with the name “Glass Max” placed on various pieces of the playground.

October 15 – DUI

• Area of Byberry and Philmont

Police responded to a report of a reckless driver after it came within inches of striking the bridge wall on Byberry Rd. east of Masons Mill Road. The driver, Tomas Kientzy, 33, of Philadelphia denied drinking, but admitted to taking Suboxone, a narcotic. Police placed him under arrest and he was argumentative about it. He was escorted back to LMPD where he was eventually picked up by his mother.

October 15 – Criminal Mischief

• 2300 block of Philmont Ave.

LMPD observed graffiti sprayed on the overhead garage door of suite 126 at 2381 Philmont Ave. The word “DAZE” was written with an asterisk above the letter “D.” This is a similar marking found on Tracey Rd within the past several weeks.

October 14 – Criminal Mischief

• Huntingdon Valley Library/Valley Youth Center

LMPD received a call that there had been graffiti sprayed on the back wall of the building. The graffiti was located underneath a set of what appeared to be the emergency exit stairs. Extra patrol was requested.

October 12 – Criminal Mischief

• Huntingdon Valley Presbyterian Church

Jay Sarajain, the facilities manager of the HV Presbyterian Church, reported that a stained-glass window had a spider crack in it. Sarajain believes it was tampered with sometime over the weekend. A small rock, which appeared to be a piece of the block that had broken off, was on the ground near the door. The estimated cost to fix the window is $250.
