Police Log: July 3, DUI Checkpoints Paying Off

The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

June 25 – Theft

  • 2900 block of Franks Rd.

A police officer was notified at 11:30 a.m. for a report of theft from three of the company’s vehicles in the 2900 block of Franks Rd.

June 24 – DUI

  • 200 block of Gibson Ave.

Debra Moore, 54, of the 200 block of Gibson Avenue, Warminster, was stopped at 5:59 p.m. for a minor accident. Upon speaking with Moore, police believed her to be under the influence. She said she had two beers and was currently taking multiple medications, police said.

June 24 – Theft

  • Roy Lane

A black leather Coach bag, a Wells Fargo bank card, a Capital One credit card and a Kohl’s charge card were stolen from a Chrysler Town & Country. Police responded to the report at 8:24 a.m.

  • Unit block of Steele Way

At 8:32 a.m., police responded to the unit block of Steele Way for a theft from vehicle. The owner reported his wallet as stolen; he thought he locked his car, but no sign of forced entry was indicated.

 

June 23 – DUI

  • Area of Philmont & Byberry roads

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident in the area of Philmont Avenue and Byberry Road, police said. Upon investigation, police found one of the drivers, Thomas Foster, 51, of the 1100 block of Mildred Avenue, Roslyn, to be intoxicated. According to reports, Foster’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot, and his speech was slurred. He was given field sobriety tests, which he failed, and registered at 0.16 percent BAC.


June 18 – Narcotics possession

  • DUI checkpoint: Philmont Ave.

Police stopped a white Toyota Camry driven by Robert Stanchek, 25, of the 300 block of Rolling Hill Road, Elkins Park, while at a DUI checkpoint on Philmont Ave. The driver was suspected of DUI, but passed field sobriety testing. Police, however, found in his possession a glass pipe with suspected marijuana and grinder, police said.

June 18 – Warrant arrest

  • DUI checkpoint: Philmont Ave.

While conducting a DUI checkpoint on Philmont Ave., police received information that Brittany Greenberg may have been wanted by Middletown police in Bucks County for a narcotics possession charge, police said. A check confirmed the warrant and she was placed under arrest, police said, until Middletown Township police arrived to pick her up.

June 18 – DUI

  • DUI checkpoint: Philmont Ave.

Police stopped a black Mercedes driven by Henry Stanley, of Oxford Valley Road in Langhorne, for driving with high beams on and passing the line police asked him to stop at, police said.

Upon observation, police said Stanley had glassy eyes. He was given field sobriety tests, and failed them.

June 18 – Underage drinking

  • DUI checkpoint: Philmont Ave.

Yaroslav Volfson, 19, of Philadelphia, and David Guramshvili, of Philadelphia, admitted to drinking once police stopped them at a checkpoint. They will be cited for underage drinking, according to police.

June 18 – DUI

  • DUI checkpoint: Philmont Ave.

Tom Cho, 26, of the 800 block of Gregory Road, Rydal, was charged with DUI after failing field sobriety testing during a DUI checkpoint, police said. A preliminary breath test revealed a 0.127 Blood-Alcohol Level, police said. Charges are pending lab results.
