Police Log Part I: DUI, More Theft and Narcotics Possession

The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department. Check back tomorrow for Part II of this week's log.

August 2 – Theft

  • Train Station

Arlacia Leite, 40, reported valve stem covers were stolen out of her Jaguar while it was parked at the Bethayres Train Station over the weekend. She parked the car in the lot on Friday, and when she returned on Monday, all four valve stem covers were gone. According to the report, other “high-end” vehicles were missing their valve stem covers as well.

July 31 – DUI

  • 2000 block of Shadywood Circle

A resident contacted police after she heard a crash outside her house and saw the mailbox of her neighbor had been broken. When police arrived, they found Daniel Gruener, 52, had crashed his gold Nissan Maxima into the mailbox.

When approached by officers, Gruener appeared very lethargic, confused, unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech. He admitted to crashing into the mailbox and officers came to the determination he was under the influence of prescription medication after telling police he consumed pills earlier in the day. Charges are pending the completion of blood analysis.

July 31 – Suspicious Persons

  • 2300 block of Huntingdon Pike

Joseph Palka Jr., 39, reported a theft in progress in the parking lot of his apartment complex, behind , of an air condition unit outside his building. Palka saw a while male wearing a maroon shirt standing near some bushes. Palka saw the exterior air condition fan and assumed it was theft. He reported 2-3 males were in the area.

When police arrived on scene, they did not see anything out of the ordinary and the report was downgraded to a suspicious incident.

July 30 – DUI

  • Area of Welsh & Pine Rd.

Alexsandr Lyubovich, 32, was pulled over after police observed him blowing through a stop sign. When speaking to the cop, he admitted to consuming two alcoholic drinks. He registered a 0.14 BAC. Charges pending lab results.

July 29 – Narcotics Possession – Marijuana/Hashish

  • Ridgway Park

Police found three unoccupied cars in the parking lot of Ridgway Park after the park was closed. An officer saw four males sitting at a nearby picnic table. Upon seeing the cop, the males got up and started walking towards their cars.

Asad Syed Zia, Christopher Yohannan, Bobby Abraham and Awais Asraf Chaudhary all smelled of marijuana, according to the report. All four admitted to smoking a blunt. Police searched the vehicles and found a glass pipe, a pot grinder, pack of “EZwider” and a glass container marked “Gravitron.” The males admitted to smoking pot, but there was never any marijuana found. They were advised not to drive and called a cab to take them home. Each will get a citation for “Disorderly Conduct.”
