Red Light Cameras to be Added Around Mall

Area drivers will likely see more cameras near the Willow Grove Mall.

Upper and Lower Moreland drivers will soon face the possiblities of more traffic tickets. But, you won't see an officer pull you over to hand it to you. Instead, the drivers in and around the Willow Grove Mall may fall vicitim to newly installed red light cameras.

According to Abington Patch, the township approved an ordinance late Thursday night allowing the use of automated red light cameras at three township intersections in the areas of the mall and hospital.Β 

The three intersections to get "robot eyes" are:

  • Old York and Susquehanna roads
  • Old York and Old Welsh roads
  • Moreland and Fitzwatertown roads

At a cost of $5,000 per intersection per month, the cameras will photograph violating cars and send the images to Abington Police.
