Woman Who Stole from Lower Moreland Business Gets Jail Time
After stealing over $150,000 from her cousin, a bookkeeper will now spend time in prison.
A Philadelphia woman who learned her fate in Montgomery County Court yesterday.
Juliett Barzilayeva, 60, of the 1600 block of Welsh Road, was sentenced to nine-to-23 months in jail after pleading guilty to a felony charge of theft by unlawful taking in connection with the thefts of $154,000 from her cousin’s company.
The crimes occurred from January 2008 to December 2009 from the business at the 3300 block of Woodland Circle, where her family member, Otar Kosashvili, put her in charge of running the books for import/export companies such as Blue Wave Shipping, FTC Inc., Eastern Wood Production and Delta Stream Inc.

Judge Thomas C. Branca also ordered Barzilayeva to pay full restitution to the victim. Barzilayeva faced a maximum sentence of 3 ½ years for her crime. She will report to jail on June 18 to start serving the sentence, where she will be eligible for the jail’s work release program.
