Easy Race for 3 out of 4 Neshaminy School Board Seats

For the Neshaminy School Board primary election, there are five candidates for four seats. Four of the candidates cross-filed, and that works out to just one contested seat.

Candidates for positions that are typically meant to be non-political, such as a school board or district magistrate, can cross-file as both a republican and a democrat.

That also means, theoretically, that the election could be decided in the primary. If the same four candidates are chosen on both sides, well, then that’s that.

For Neshaminy, the region 2 seat, representing Middletown Township has two candidate, the incumbent, Mike Morris, and challenger, Doug Suessegger, according to Bucks County election records.

Morris has cross-filed as both a Democrat and Republican; Suessegger filed only as a Democrat.

In one scenario, Morris could take the Republican nomination and Suessegger could the Democratic and then we have a race for the general election. Or, Morris could take both the Republican and Democratic nominations and, well, the election is essentially decided.

School Board Vice President Scott E. Congdon is running unopposed for region 1: Lower Southampton and part of Middletown. Irene Boyle, also an incumbent and Ron Rudy are running for seats in region 3—Langhorne, parts of Middletown and surrounding areas. Both crossed-filed, but there are two seats open, so both will get in.
