Editor's note: A Malvern family was among the top 100 fundraisers in 2011 for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, according to a press release from the group.
The following information comes from the foundation:
Every fall, since 2009, the DiLullo Family has held an Alex’s Lemonade Stand at Nurture, a baby boutique in Ardmore. Peter and Alexis DiLullo originally came up with the idea to hold a lemonade stand after their first daughter, Samantha, was born.

Having a child of their own made them realize how devastating it must be for parents to watch their children battle cancer. They had been looking for a charity they could get involved with, and wanted to do something as a family. The store owner of Nurture not only agreed to let them hold their stand at her store, but she offered to donate 10% of the days proceeds to the Foundation. Although Samantha was too young to help at their first stand, she now enjoys stirring and serving lemonade, and at 3-years-old, she understands that she is helping kids who are sick.
The newest member of the DiLullo family, Alyssa, was just 4 months old at the 2011 stand, but the DiLullos are looking forward to getting her involved in helping at future stands.

“We always said we wanted our children to learn at a young age how to give back,” says Alexis. “Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is the perfect charity to get your kids involved in. It’s easy and fun for them, and it’s kids helping other kids.”
“We are proud of all of our supporters across the country and honored to have them join us in the battle to find better treatments and ultimately cures for all kids with cancer,” says Liz Scott, Alex’s mom and Co-Executive Director of the Foundation. “Volunteers are integral to the success of the Foundation, and without these fundraisers we wouldn’t be taking important strides to achieve Alex’s dream – a cure.”
The DiLullo family has turned their stand into a family event. Alexis puts the girls in the stroller and walks up and down Ardmore hanging signs and telling businesses about their upcoming stand. Many of Samantha’s playgroup friends bake cupcakes and cookies to sell at the stand. Aunts and Uncles, Grandparents and cousins all come out on the day of the stand to help sell lemonade. All that hard work has propelled the family to be honored as a Top 100 Fundraiser for two years in a row.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is busily preparing for the summer and lemonade season and will celebrate the 9th Annual National Lemonade Days fundraising weekend on June 8, 9 & 10, 2012. Dedicated volunteers across the country have an opportunity to host their own Alex's Lemonade Stand to help raise $1 million for childhood cancer research in one weekend.
