Join current massage students as they learn a new modality each week.
Thai massage is an ancient healing art that combines acupressure, assisted yoga stretches, and rhythmic compression to restore balance and energy flow throughout the body. Rooted in Ayurvedic and Buddhist traditions, it focuses on working along the body’s energy lines, known as Sen, to release tension and promote overall wellness.
In this introductory class, students will explore the history and philosophy of Thai massage, learn foundational techniques performed on a floor mat, and practice proper body mechanics to deliver treatments safely and effectively. Emphasis will be placed on mindfulness, breath awareness, and practitioner presence—key elements that make Thai massage both therapeutic and meditative for giver and receiver alike.
In this interactive hands-on BASIC Introductory class, you will learn:
1. Description of the Modality
2. Account of its historical development
3. Benefits & Contraindications
4. Specific techniques for basic training
Class notes: Please wear comfortable, flexible clothing as thai massage is traditionally performed while clothed. Bring a blanket for your floor mat. Notebook and pen or pencil for notes.
Certificates of completion will be issued at the end of the class. Please use the name you want on your certificate when you register.
