Chesco Provides Residents Information For Severe Weather

The county offers shelter for the homeless and safety tips for residents.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA —With the first snowfall of 2024 in the forecast, Chester County officials remind residents that the county has services available for those in need.

National weather forecasters are predicting a slight chance of snow and or snow mixed with rain on Saturday and Sunday. An accumulation of less than an inch is possible. High temperatures are forecasted at 38 degrees.

During the winter season, Chester County is committed to providing temporary shelter, food, and clothing to those in need, according to county officials.

Chester County residents who need shelter during winter months can call 2-1-1 for assistance. Residents can text their zip code to 898-211.

Residents are asked to check on elderly neighbors and friends to ensure their homes are heated. If someone needs help, residents are asked to immediately call 9-1-1.

  • Winterize vehicles with anti-freeze, a full tank of gas, and check tires. Stock vehicled with emergency kits.
  • Check smoke detectors.
  • Wear warm clothing when outdoors.
  • Limit pet exposure.
  • Report power outages to PECO by calling 800-841-4141.
  • Report Verizon outages by calling 1-800-Verizon.
  • MetEd- Report power outages by calling 800-544-4877.
  • PPL- Report outage by calling 1-800-342-5775
