Energy Company to Reimburse for Malvern Gasoline Spill
Buckeye Partners LP extended an offer to recoup for last Saturday's gasoline spill that shut down businesses and roads this week.

Buckeye Partners LP, the company claiming responsibility for the gasoline spill that occurred on South Malin Road last weekend, has extended an offer to compensate businesses disrupted by the evening road closures.
Several business operations on Saturday were disrupted since their doors were effectively unaccessible from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., according to a report from 6ABC. Dan Conner, owner of McKenzie Brewhouse, expressed his concern, telling 6ABC that the incident caused "one of the worst days" that the restaurant has experienced in years.
David Boone, spokesman for Buckeye, told Malvern Patch that the company has extended an offer to compensate affected businesses for lost profits.
"We have reached out to the businesses located on Route 30 who were impacted by the Route 30 Road closure from 4 pm to 11 pm on Saturday night to reimburse those business for lost income as a result of the road closure," he told Malvern Patch in an email.
Cleanup following the spill has been underway over the past week, blockading several roads between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m on Monday through Friday. The remediation process is in its final phase, expected to culminate Friday.
Lewis Environmental, the contracted cleanup crew, has focused on a patch of land saturated by gasoline, located northward from the Exxon Mobil terminal.
Boone said that the crux of the remediation process at this point "consists of testing for impacted soils."
"If we identify impacted soils, we will excavate, remove and dispose of the impacted soils at a proper disposal facility," he said in an email.
Buckeye has established a claims hotline for anyone who believes they were affected by the spill at 800-994-0729.
