Great Valley School District Rates #15 In Pennsylvania

GREAT VALLEY, PA —Great Valley School District ranked number 15 out of 495 school districts in Pennsylvania, according to the 2023 rankings provided recently by Niche, an educational platform, headquartered in Pittsburgh.

The district received an overall grade of A+. The district covers the borough of Malvern and Charlestown, East Whiteland and Willistown township.

The district consists of Great Valley High School, Great Valley Middle School and four elementary schools. The district has an estimated 4,606 students.

According to the state test scores, 71 percent of the students are at least proficient in reading and 56 percent in math. The district offers AP classes and gifted programs.

Niche said in the report that the rankings were created to provide families with valuable information — both quantitative and qualitative — on schools in their area or in a neighborhood they’re not familiar with yet.

The district was rated #3 in Chester County.

Overall, the district earned an A+ in academics and college prep. The district received an A in teachers and an A- in administration.

Great Valley earned a B+ in clubs and activities, a B in diversity and food and a B- in resources and facilities.

Niche said its rankings differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.
