Health Department: Flu Widespread in Pennsylvania
More than 5,000 cases have been reported this season. Eleven people have died.

The flu is now widespread in the commonwealth the Pennsylvania Department of Health reports, with more than 5,000 confirmed cases.
The “widespread” designation means that cases of the flu have been confirmed in at least half the regions of the state, the Health Department said.
In the Philadelphia region, the number of confirmed cases to date are as follows:

- Bucks County: 161
- Chester County: 149
- Delaware County: 148
- Montgomery County: 319
- Philadelphia County: 89
There have been 5,153 lab-confirmed cases in the commonwealth so far this season.
Lab-confirmed flu cases represent only a fraction of those with the flu, state health officials say, because most people “do not go to the doctor or are not tested or reported.”
