Historical Photo Location Revealed

The photo depicts the William Paschall House along West Swedesford Road.

Last week's was a tough one; there were no correct answers. So we'll play by the horseshoes-and-hand-grenades rule, where proximity counts.

The closest answer came from , who had the right road but wrong block:

According to Tim Caban of the East Whiteland Historical Commission, the photo was taken in Aug 1979, and the building is the William Paschall House, located at 319 Swedesford Road.

William Paschall House

The 30x20' house listed in the 1798 federal glass tax, being assessed as David Cloyd's home, was formerly owned by William Paschall in 1729.

David Cloyd, who purchased in 1763 was a prominent local 18th century community and government leader.  Besides being active in the Great Valley Presbyterian Church, he served Chester County as a Commissioner, Treasurer and County Assessor.
