The Immaculata Symphony begins their concert season with an outdoor performance taking place Sunday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. on Immaculata University’s back campus. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be relocated to the Alumnae Hall Theater. The Immaculata Symphony is an outstanding university-community organization that has been performing since the University’s founding in 1920.

This free concert, “Suite Treats,” will feature several audience favorites with the remarkable Villa Maria Hall dome as its backdrop. Musical selections for this performance include “English Folk Song Suite” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, “Gilbert and Sullivan Medley” arranged by Ted Ricketts, “How Sweet the Sound” arranged by Troy Armstrong, and “Carmen Suites No. 1 and 2” by Georges Bizet.

Music Director Joseph Gehring, M.M., will be conducting the orchestra for this performance. Gehring is the music department chair and director of ensembles at Immaculata and an assistant professor for the University’s music department. Maestro Gehring has been involved with the Immaculata Symphony since 2004 and was appointed music director in 2011. In addition to his role with Immaculata, he serves as the music director of the West Chester Band and is a member of the Chesco Pops Orchestra. Maestro Gehring frequently directs additional various honor and festival bands throughout the Pennsylvania and Delaware area.
