Updated: Malvern Man Killed in Newtown Square Crash Monday

Joseph Coffey, 42, of Willistown Township, was father of five Great Valley students.

Update: Newtown Police have identified the driver who died in the crash as Joseph Coffey, 42, of Willistown Township. Coffey was the father of five children in Great Valley School District. The district on Tuesday sent a letter to parents explaining the situation and offering instructions on how to help children deal with grief.

A 42-year-old Malvern man was killed in a vehicle crash in Newtown Square Monday night, according to various media reports.

Marple Newtown Patch reported Monday night that a Cadillac Escalade had crashed around 8:45 p.m., :

The man's name has not yet been released. He was the driver of the vehicle and no one else was involved in the crash, according to Newtown Township Police.

The SUV was heading westbound on Goshen Road near Crum Creek Lane, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled several times, ejecting the driver from the vehicle, according to
