Superintendent Search Continues for Great Valley School District
The school district is using information from 19 focus groups to construct a candidate profile and screen more than 30 applications.

Great Valley School District officials have received more than 30 applications from potential candidates, and now they have the proper filter to review the submissions.
According to a notice from the district’s school board, the long, arduous process is taking the next step following the completion of March’s focus groups.
A total of 19 meetings were conducted throughout the month as committees that included parents, teachers, administrators and students compiled a candidate profile with the qualities and skills needed for a successful superintendent. The board will now review the applications under the proposed guidelines and select candidates to invite for in-person interviews.

The board asks any community members unable to attend the focus groups to provide their own feedback about the characteristics for the next superintendent by emailing GVSDSuptSearch@cciu.org with answers to the following questions:
- Identify the qualities of a superior school leader;
- Identify the strengths and skills essential for the next superintendent to demonstrate;
- Identify key issues facing the district in the next five years that the superintendent will need to address; and,
- Identify the obstacles to student achievement and the strategies the next superintendent will need to employ to overcome those obstacles.
The screening and first-round interviews are expected to complete by mid-April, with plans to announce the next superintendent in late spring.
