Officer Christake found the car, along with multiple people wearing in dark clothes, in the area of Brookthorpe Circle pulling on car door handles.

Christake radioed for more officers to assist at the other end of the circle, and a Newtown Township officer laid down a tire deflation device in the event the suspect tried to drive off.

Police said when Officer Christake approached the vehicle, it drove backward, towards the assisting officers.

Despite the vehicle's tires being deflated by the device, it continued onto West Chester Pike, leading police to pursue it, authorities said.

The chase came to an end just west of Media Line Road, where two occupants of the stolen car ran off, while the remaining two were taken into custody without incident.

Police searched the area, with Christake using a drone, and the two other suspects were found and taken into custody near the Evergreen Club Apartments by officers from the Haverford and Springfield Township Police Departments.

"This was an outstanding cooperative effort by several agencies to apprehend the suspects," Marple Township Police said. "We want to highlight the work of Marple Officers Mark Christake and TJ Reynolds, as well as Sergeant Mike Rush. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to officers from the Newtown, Springfield, Haverford, Radnor, Upper Providence and Nether Providence police departments, as well as our partners of the PA State Police, who assisted during this incident."

Savage-Reece and Harrington were charged with felony receiving stolen property, evading arrest, corruption of minors, and loitering and prowling at night, court documents show. Harrington was also charged with providing false identification to police.

They are being held after failing to post 10 percent of $50,000 bail and are scheduled for Oct. 16 preliminary hearings, according to court documents.
