Christmas Eve, Christmas Day Church Services in Marple Newtown

Local houses of worship offer plenty of times and ways to celebrate.

Here's a look at some of the worship services available on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in and around Marple Newtown this year. If we have missed one please add it in the comments section below.

Marple Presbyterian Church

  • Christmas Eve: Family service starts at 6 p.m. with an intergenerational pageant. Traditional service is at 9 p.m. Both services include candlelight, and the early service includes some electric candles for the youngest worshippers.

  • Christmas Eve: Service start at 5 p.m. for the Christmas Tableau for children of all ages. Prelude music at 7:30 p.m., and a traditional candlelight service with Communion will begin at 8 p.m. 

Saint Anastasia Catholic Church

  • Christmas Eve: Christmas vigil mass will begin as follows: 4:30 p.m. (church); 4:30 p.m. (parish hall); 6:30 p.m. (church); and 8:30 p.m. (church).
  • Christmas Day: Christmas vigil mass services will start as follows: 7:45 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and noon.

  • Christmas Eve: Mass in church at 4 p.m. the children’s choir will perform. Mass in auditorium at 4 p.m. a violin trio will perform. Christmas mass at 6 p.m. will feature an organist and cantor and at 7:30 p.m. mass will feature Christmas carols. Christmas mass at 8 p.m. will feature the adult choir and midnight mass will feature a guitar group.
  • Christmas Day: Christmas mass services will start as follows: 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.

Greek Orthodox Church of St Luke

  • Christmas Eve: Service for Orthros, Great Hours, Great Vespers & Divine Liturgy of St. Basil will begin at 5 p.m. Service for Great Vespers, Orthros, Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom will begin at 10:30 p.m.

Saint Alban's Episcopal Church

  • Christmas Eve: Service begins at 4 p.m. with Christmas carols. Traditional Christmas Eve service with Eucharist, mass and carols is at 11 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Service begins at 10 a.m. for the Holy Eucharist, mass and Christmas carols.

Belmont Baptist Church

  • Christmas Eve: Service begins at 7 p.m. 

Christ United Methodist Church

  • Christmas Eve: A candlelight service will begin at 8 p.m.

Marple Christian Church

  • Christmas Eve: Christmas Eve service of candlelight, readings, and carols will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul, 18th Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia

Christmas Eve

  • 5 p.m. — Music by Cathedral Schola and Cathedral Strings and Brass
  • 7:30 p.m. — Music by Cathedral Schola and Cathedral Strings and Brass 
  • 11 p.m. — Cathedral Basilica Choir and Cathedral Strings and Brass will provide the Choral Prelude to the Midnight Mass.
  • 12 a.m.— Solemn Midnight Mass celebrated with music provided by the Cathedral Basilica Choir and Cathedral Strings and Brass.

Christmas Day

  • 8 a.m.
  • 10 a.m. — Music provided by the Cathedral Basilica Choir and the Cathedral Strings and Brass.
  • noon — Solemn Mass with music provided by the Cathedral Basilica Choir and the Cathedral Strings and Brass.
