Delco Man Loses $12K In Check Washing Scheme: State Police

According to Pennsylvania State Police in Delaware County, a 91-year-old man had two checks washed that resulted in him losing $12,100.

CHADDS FORD TOWNSHIP, PA — A Delaware County senior citizen is out more than $12,000 after being caught in a check washing scheme, according to authorities.

Pennsylvania State Police in Delaware County in September were alerted to a check washing scheme.

Police said a 91-year-old Chadds Ford Township resident was the victim of the incident.

The victim had $12,1000 stolen through the scheme.

This was done by washing two checks. One was altered to be $7,800 and the other $4,3000, according to police.

Troopers are investigating the incident.
