Investigators eventually identified Beckett and Ronald Collins, of Chester, as suspects in the shooting.

In December 2024, Pennsylvania State Police investigators from Troop K Media barracks obtained a homicide warrant for Beckett, and he was added to the State Police Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives. Collins was taken into custody on Dec. 12, 2024.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia was then delegated the case.

Authorities said Beckett was taken into custody at a residence on the 1600 block of Brighton Place in Pittsburgh, where Marshals Service investigators learned he was hiding in.

When the surveillance team saw Beckett, members of the Pittsburgh Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team West executed an arrest warrant and Beckett was taken into custody without incident.

"Thanks to the outstanding collaboration between the U.S. Marshals Service and Pennsylvania State Police, a dangerous murderer has been captured, and our community is safer tonight," Robert Clark, Supervisory Deputy for the Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force said.
