Social Media Post Falsely Claims Broomall Firefighter Died​

The Broomall Fire Company Friday said a social media post claiming one of its members died during an incident Friday is completely false.

BROOMALL, PA — A social media post claiming a local firefighter has died is completely false, according to officials.

The Broomall Fire Company said a post that claimed one of its members died in the line of duty while responding to an emergency incident is untrue.

"We want to assure the public that this information is completely false. No such incident has occurred," Assistant Broomall Fire Company Chief Dannon Voight said on social media. "The post appears to have stemmed from a miscommunication, potentially as a result of data mining or automated misinformation."

The post in question has since been removed, and officials do not believe any malicious intent was behind the post.
