Inspectors found dozens of birds with feather loss, feces build up on surfaces, algae contaminated water, and more during their visits.

MEDIA, PA β€” Media's Linvilla Orchards was cited by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 10 violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act.

According to federal regulators, the popular attraction was found in violation of rules regarding inadequate veterinary care, sanitation, water quality, pest control, compatibility, record keeping and more.

On Aug. 30 an inspector found dozens of birds with feather loss on their backs, wings, and chests and many of them with red skin.

Regulators said multiple bird enclosures lacked clean drinking water and a tub of water for turkeys and peafowl "contained dirt, debris, leaves, algae, and scum."

Other things inspectors noted included water green from algae and feces build up on surfaces.

"With respect to an attending veterinarian and adequate veterinary care, we were still waiting for our veterinarian to visit the farm but, as reflected in the report, we had made significant updates to the pond, living conditions, and comparability of the birds living together," Linvilla Orchards told NBC10. "We will continue to work with the USDA and trained veterinarians and will always adhere to any guidance they give. Again, our goal is all the same, to provide a safe and clean environment for our animals."
