Newlin Grist Mill and Wild Birds Unlimited (Glen Mills) have teamed up to explore the wonderful world of bird life! Join us for monthly naturalist-led walks through the 160-acre park at Newlin Grist Mill. We will meet year-round residents, visit exciting migrants, and learn the basics of bird identification and biology.

Join the Delaware County Press Club for their Holiday Luncheon and Basket Raffle with special guest Cathy McVey, Visit Philadelphia’s Senior Vice President of Strategic Integration, on December 17th at noon, at <a target="_blank" href="https://lalocandapa.com/" rel="nofollow" data-hook="web-link">La Locanda Ristorante,</a> Newtown Square. 
Philadelphia and its surrounding counties are at the center of the United States Semiquincentennial celebrations and McVey plays a pivotal role in projecting the voice of Philadelphia’s historic past and overall uniqueness to visitors of our great city. You won’t want to miss getting a first-hand account of how Philly is being marketed in preparation for this momentous occasion and finding out how YOU can be involved in this historical event! 
McVey will discuss their Civic Pride campaign and the marketing of Philadelphia ahead of America's 250th anniversary. The campaign is all about spotlighting the people, places, and moments that exist only here. 
She’ll also tell us how we can become a part of the citywide movement of proud Philadelphians who are united by one mission: to showcase their favorite Philly experiences. 
During lunch, attendees can take a chance to win a variety of holiday baskets. Proceeds from the Holiday Basket Raffle will go toward the Barbara Ormsby Award for Communications Excellence to a full-time student enrolled at a Delaware County institution of higher education. The 2025 Award went to Villanova University. 
Raffle baskets include sports memorabilia, music collection, Press Club memberships, gifts from Italy, artwork, unique experiences, and more! Plus, we’ll hold a special silent auction on a shore get-away and for one round of golf for four at Hershey's Mill including carts!
Reserve your space today! Press Club events are open to the public. 
Members: $35 with reservations
Nonmembers: $45 nonmembers and walk-ins 
Reservations are recommended but guests may also pay by cash, check, or credit card at the door. 
Ticket includes a plated hot lunch.

Pendle Hill

Join a retreat of your choice to ring in the New Year in community. All retreats are on campus at Pendle Hill from December 28th through January 1st of 2026. Each event culminates in an alcohol-free celebration on New Year's Eve with a homecooked dinner and reception, concert in the historic Barn, and midnight candlelit silent worship to ring in the New Year in caring community.<h3>Music of Freedom and Sanctuary, with Karl Middleman</h3>
During this time of political and economic upheaval we seek safe places in our daily lives, places where we can find respite and sanctuary amidst the pain in our world. This workshop speaks to that need. Individual freedoms and the idea of sanctuary figure prominently in music and the arts — freedom from prejudice, freedom from physical harm, freedom to be a contrarian, freedom to think nothing at all. 
In Music of Freedom and Sanctuary, we will probe the complex crosscurrents of life and art, exploring the role of music as a safe harbor for reflection. 
<h3>Open Heart, Peaceful Mind: A Retreat for Rest &amp; Reflection, with Valerie Brown</h3>
As we face growing uncertainty and the unraveling of systems once thought secure, there is no better time to connect with a community of care and engage in practices that promote clarity, courage, and conviction. We are called to see reality as it is, without succumbing to despair, while imagining possibilities and continuing to show up authentically, lovingly, and peacefully.

The Spring 2026 book sale in support of the Media Upper-Providence Free Library is April 18-20. 
Sale hours are:
<ul><li>Saturday and Sunday: 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM</li><li>Monday: 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM</li></ul>
Discover more than 30,000 books and thousands of additional items available across all three floors of the library. Our selection is continually refreshed after every sale. Signage throughout the library will guide you to the correct floor, and our friendly volunteers are always available to help.
Sale items include hardback, paperback and coffee table books, audiobooks, magazines, DVDs, CDs, vinyl records, puzzles, games, sheet music, and vintage &amp; ephemera items.
This is a well-organized sale with all items sorted into categories. The books are stored on shelves (not in boxes) in our 4,000 square-foot shopping area and are categorized into fiction, non-fiction, sci-fi/horror, teen literature, and children’s. Fiction is alphabetized by author. Non-fiction is categorized by subject. 
Sale prices are:
<ul><li>Saturday: Most items are priced at $3 (or as marked)</li><li>Sunday: “½ Price Day” - Most items are priced at $1.50</li><li>Monday: “Bag Sale” day - $5 for a grocery store-sized bag</li></ul>
Cash, check, and some electronic payments (credit cards, PayPal, and Venmo) accepted. Minimum of $10 purchase for electronic payments.
All proceeds from the sale go to the Media-Upper Providence Free Library. In addition to raising money for the library, the book sale also supports teachers in Title 1 schools in Delaware County and charitable organizations in our greater community.
