Delaware County Enacts Contingency Plan For Crisis Health Services

Officials are working to get contracts that would continue providing critical mental health services after Crozer stops accepting patients.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — As Prospect Medical Holdings closes Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital, Delaware County officials have enacted contingency plans for healthcare services.

Officials said Crozer-Chester Medical Center will still be taking crisis emergencies, including involuntary commitment of individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, through 8 a.m. Monday.

Individuals and entities can still receive full services, including admission, up until that point, according to officials.

With the contingency plans in place, the county said contracts with other providers will be secured to pick up those services on Monday to prevent gaps in service.

"We will announce those providers and start dates as soon as agreements are finalized," the county said in a news release. "We recognize the challenge and difficulties that this shortened closure time is bringing, however we will work to ensure all our residents and stakeholders are informed and that services continue seamlessly."
