Delaware County Library Board Seeks Two New Members

Delaware County is currently looking to fill two vacancies on the Delaware County Library Board.

The Delaware County Library Board (DCLB) is the governing body for the Delaware County Library System which consists of the 26 community libraries in Delaware County, and is the formal, policy-setting group that exists to set goals and objectives that will optimize library service to the citizens of Delaware County through cooperative efforts.

Its duties include broad responsibilities required for the efficient management of a tax-funded institution while successfully meeting the community’s information needs.

Primary responsibilities of the DCLB include: adopting written policies to govern the operation and services of Delaware County Libraries; approving and monitoring the Delaware County Libraries’ annual budget, and ongoing fiscal health; planning for the future of Delaware County Libraries by setting long-term strategic direction and goals; and acting as an advocate for libraries and a liaison to the public, organizations, and public officials.

The DCLB consists of seven Delaware County residents appointed by County Council. It meets approximately six evenings per year at different community libraries in Delaware County.

Applications for the board opening will be accepted through 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 11.
