Free Mammogram Screening Coming Up In Delaware County: Details
Appointments are limited for these mammogram screenings, which help detect breast cancer.
CHESTER, PA β Mammogram screenings will be offered to Delaware County residents at no charge, at an upcoming event to promote breast health and help local women check for breast cancer.
The Delaware County Health Department (DCHD) and Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital are partnering to bring breast cancer awareness and provide a free screening in the county. The screening will be Friday, Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Delaware County Wellness Center at Chester β 151 W. 5th Street, Chester PA, 19013.
Appointments are limited, and registration is required. Women ages 40 and over with no prior diagnosis of breast cancer are eligible to register, whether or not they have insurance. To register, call the Delaware County Wellness Line at (484) 276-2100, or request an appointment by email: DelcoWellness@co.delaware.pa.us.

All registered individuals will receive a callback to confirm.
Registrants will also be able to speak with Delaware County Health District staff, and discuss other health services that are offered to Delco residents.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, according to the American Cancer Society. Recent data shows that women aged 50 or older in Delaware County and across Pennsylvania are at nearly nine times higher risk for invasive breast cancer than women under 50, the health department said.
According to the American Cancer Society, early-stage breast cancer has a five-year survival rate of 99 percent, while later-stage cancer has a survival rate of 27 percent.
