Girl Hurt In Fatal Delco Crash No Longer Critical: Family

Isabella Jones, 11, suffered many bone fractures and a severe concussion in the crash that kill Abigail Gillon, 12, last weekend.

ASTON TOWNSHIP, PA β€” The girl who survived a crash in Delaware County last weekend that killed her friend is no longer in critical condition, according to family members.

The Jones family provided an update on 11-year-old Isabella Jones, who was seriously hurt in a crash that occurred at about 2:18 p.m. Saturday at Lehr Boulevard and Concord Road in Aston Township.

Killed in the crash was 12-year-old Abigail Gillon. She died Monday.

The two girls were riding an electric scooter when they were struck by a vehicle.

According to the Jones family, Isabella is out of critical condition and is on the rehabilitation floor of the hospital treating her.

"She has 40 staples in her head, a fractured skull, swelling, and broke every bone on the left side of her face," a family representative said on social media Friday. "She has a broken jaw and a fractured collarbone, she has a broken femur and 3 fractured ribs, and a major concussion."

The person said she had surgery to wire her jaw and place screws in her femur.

"Bella is going to have a very long recovery, 6 months or more physically," they said. "Emotionally and mentally she’s never going to be the same and she is going to need all the support and love she can get."

A GoFundMe has been established to support her and her family during her recovery.

So far, more than $51,426 has been raised through the GoFundMe.

The striking driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police, authorities said.

No charges have been filed as of Monday.
