Learn How to Become an LPN in 12 Months at DCTS April 8 Open House

DCTS invites prospective students to a virtual Open House on April 8 to learn about its top-ranked 12-month Practical Nursing Program.

With the demand for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) growing alongside an aging workforce, Delaware County Technical Schools (DCTS) is preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals. Through its rigorous 12-month Practical Nursing Program, DCTS equips students with the skills needed to smoothly transition into the LPN workforce. Prospective students are invited to a virtual Open House on Zoom, scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, at 5 p.m., to learn more about this top-ranked program.

“Our 12-month program offers students the opportunity to acquire a comprehensive skillset and gain essential experience that will propel their careers forward,” said Program Supervisor Stacy Delaney.

DCTS’s Practical Nursing Program offers a 1500-hour curriculum that prepares students for the National Council Licensing Exam for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). With access to modern clinical facilities, simulation labs, and expert faculty, students gain the knowledge and skills needed to pass the exam and meet industry standards. Since 2025, DCTS has boasted a 100% job placement rate for its graduates.

The LPN role offers a rewarding career with opportunities in hospitals, nursing homes, private homes, and schools. Working under the supervision of RNs and doctors, LPNs provide vital care, including monitoring vitals, administering medications, and assisting with patient communication.

Ranked among the top programs in Pennsylvania by Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce, the program is perfect for career changers, professionals seeking certifications and high school graduates. The curriculum includes critical courses like Anatomy, Pharmacology, Medical and Surgical Nursing, and Pediatrics.

“Our nursing program consistently produces highly qualified graduates who are in demand by employers even before they graduate,” said Delaney. “Our dedicated instructors, hands-on clinical training, and advanced simulation exercises ensure that students are fully prepared to excel in the nursing field and secure top job placements.”

The April 8 virtual Open House, hosted via Zoom, will feature a panel discussion and Q&A on program enrollment. The panel will include Dr. Stephen Butz, Career and Technical Education Program Director, Stacy Delaney, RN, MS-ED Practical Nursing Program Supervisor, Beth Leahey, MSN,RN, Roxborough Memorial Hospital CNO and Marla Kennedy, program graduate and LPN at Little Flower Manor. The Financial Aid Director, Jeanne Cavalieri-Grover, will also appear during the event to provide insight about financial aid options.
