About Holy Family Home and The Little Sisters of the Poor

The Little Sisters have been serving the Philadelphia community since 1869. Guided by the mission of their foundress, St. Jeanne Jugan, they welcome the neediest elderly of all races and religions, offering them a home where they are received as Christ, cared for as family, and accompanied with dignity until they are called to God.

In March 2022, the Little Sisters partnered with The Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelphia to launch a $45 million capital campaign to rebuild Holy Family Home. The new facility will comfortably accommodate 15 Little Sisters and 55 residents. Designed to introduce a new model of care, the Home will allow residents to “age in place” in apartments for as long as possible before transitioning to a care household if a higher level of care is needed. This approach honors the desire of seniors to remain as independent and active as possible and reflects the Little Sisters' belief that old age is a meaningful stage of life, not an illness.

Construction of the new Holy Family Home is underway, with completion expected by the summer of 2025.
