Maris Grove, an Erickson Senior Living community in the Brandywine Valley of Pennsylvania, recently welcomed two dynamic leaders who bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to their roles.

Haas started his career in senior living as a senior move manager, gaining firsthand experience helping retirees make the move to Erickson Senior Living communities in Maryland, Virginia, and the Washington, D.C. area.

"I connected deeply with the residents and their stories," recalls Haas, who jumped at the chance to become a sales associate at Riderwood, an Erickson Senior Living community in Silver Spring, Md.

Dedicated to the sales team and helping incoming residents transition seamlessly to the community, he quickly rose through the ranks to sales manager.

When the opportunity arose for Haas to further hone his leadership skills at Maris Grove, he and his wife Jennifer--a physical therapist with Erickson Senior Living--relocated to Glen Mills, Pa., with their young son Theo and their pets.

"We were drawn by the positivity and strong sense of community at Maris Grove," Haas says.

Family values

Haas' deep commitment to family profoundly influences his role as sales director. He believes that fostering a sense of belonging within the community mirrors the care and connection he values at home.

"Family is everything to me," Haas says. "I try to bring that same perspective to my work, ensuring that every resident feels at home and every team member feels appreciated."

This outlook helps him create a warm, welcoming environment where everyone can thrive.

"I see the Maris Grove team, staff, and residents as an extension of my family," he shares. "It's about creating a welcoming home for everyone who chooses to work and live here."

As sales director, Haas sees his role as multifaceted, from guiding prospective residents to encouraging his team's professional growth.

"I'm here to provide the right information and support so people can make the best decisions for their futures," he explains.

Outside of work, Haas enjoys exploring the area with his family, trying new restaurants, and hosting friends.

A hospitality visionary

With over two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Couture's career spanned roles at high-end hotels such as Four Seasons and St. Regis before he transitioned to senior living.

Inspired by the company's hospitality-driven approach to senior living, Couture joined Erickson Senior Living in 2017 as an associate executive director at Maris Grove. His role took him to Ann's Choice, another Erickson community in Bucks County, Pa., and then back to Maris Grove in 2022.

Couture's time overseeing a range of departments across the enterprise prepared him well for his new role at Maris Grove.

"I've always loved building relationships," Couture says. "The residents and staff make this work so fulfilling. At Maris Grove, it's clear that the culture is special."

Elevated experience

As executive director, Couture plans on leveraging his hospitality background to create even more personalized experiences for residents.

"I want to bring more of my hospitality experience forward, particularly through customer service training," he says. "I'm confident we can elevate the Maris Grove experience to even higher levels."

Couture is particularly excited about the recently renovated Brinton Clubhouse, a multimillion-dollar project designed with resident input.

"Every detail matters," he explains, pointing to features like the ergonomically designed chairs and modern amenities. "Listening to residents ensures we meet their needs and exceed their expectations. For me, it's all about creating meaningful connections, both personally and professionally."

Outside of his role at Maris Grove, Couture enjoys traveling and cooking. He and his wife have two daughters, one in college and another preparing to start.

Building on success

Haas and Couture's leadership underscores Erickson Senior Living's commitment to fostering a vibrant, worry-free lifestyle for its residents.

Haas's focus on support and team development, paired with Couture's dedication to hospitality and service, promises a bright future for the community.

"Maris Grove is a place where retirees can thrive," Couture emphasizes. "Our job is to ensure that continues and to make every day even better."
