Media Planning Commission Now Down To 7

The Media Borough council unanimously passed an ordinance to change the number of required seats on the Planning Commission.

At a Media Borough Council meeting on Feb. 21, council members unanimously approved the resignation of Planning Commission member Daniel Costello which has brought the commission down to seven members.

The Planning Commission currently has nine seats on the board but, according to Council President Brian Hall, one of those seats have been vacant for more than a year.

With the recent resignation of Costello, that brings down the total number of occupied seats to seven.

"I think that's a good number," said Hall who proposed the motion to bring down the total number of Planning Commission seats to seven. "They're all solid members and have served for many years. There's no need to have additional seats."

In addition, Hall said if the commission sticks to nine seats, they will run into the risk of not having enough members on the commission to conduct a meeting which would reach a quorum.
