Nasty Smell Reported In Parts Of Delco

Residents took to social media Wednesday night to say the smell was akin to dead animals and gasoline.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA β€” Delaware County residents reported a nasty smell in the air Wednesday night, according to social media posts and a new report.

According to Fox 29, Delaware County emergency services got calls Wednesday night about the odor from Lansdowne, Ridley, Chester, Brookhaven, Prospect Park, and Glenolden.

"I literally got out my car and thought I ran over a skunk and it got stuck in my car," one social media user said.

"Here on Sycamore Rd Havertown, it smelled like death," another social media user posted. "No fumes, or chemicals."

Delaware County officials have not released any information on the odor and what could have caused it to permeate the county.

Earlier this year, a strange odor lingered around Delaware County. That was due to an equipment failure at a refinery in Marcus Hook.

And back in 2024, a thermal inversion caused a smell to affect Delaware County.
