GLEN MILLS, PA — Satanists in Delaware County are hailing a change to a local school district's dress code as a victory over discrimination.

According to Satanic Delco, it pushed the Garnet Valley School District to amend its dress code after learning it contained a ban on "satanic/cult references."

Founder Joseph Rose about a year ago said he was seeking to make a change to the dress code after successfully pushing for the amending of Penncrest High School's dress code in the Rose Tree Media School District.

"At the time, Garnet Valley didn’t want to change the policy because they feared the backlash and bad press they would receive for caving to a group of Satanists," Rose said on social media. "I’m happy to report that they have in fact caved."

According to Rose, the dress code for the 2022-23 school year does not include the ban on "satanic/cult references."

"Garnet Valley students are now free to express their Satanism on equal footing, alongside their fellow students of every other religion," he said. "Thank you to those at the school district who eventually made the right choice to remove the discriminatory language."

Patch has reached out to the district for more information on the change and will update the story when more details are made available.
