Aggressive Driving Will Be Targeted Today
Colonial Regional and Upper Nazareth Township police to be participating in a statewide initiative aimed at stopping aggressive driving.
Today will not be a good day to be driving angry in the Lehigh Valley. Not that it ever is.
No less than 14 local police departments -- including and -- and the Pennsylvania State Police plan to conduct a special aggressive-driving enforcement on Lehigh Valley roads today, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said in a news release.
Aggressive driving behaviors include speeding, tailgating and running red lights.

Local departments and the state police are targeting aggressive driving across the state until April 29.
More than 320 local departments are participating in the program, which is funded by PennDOT’s statewide investment of $2.3 million in federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the news release said.

Participating police departments wrote 142,013 aggressive-driving related citations in 2011, according to PennDOT.
The other Lehigh Valley departments participating in the targeted enforcement today include: Allentown, Bethlehem, Bethlehem Township, Fountain Hill, Catasauqua, Salisbury Township, Whitehall Township, Easton, Lehigh Township, Lower Saucon Township, Palmer Township and Wilson.
