Are YOU Behind Nazareth's Mystery String?

A Nazareth woman has reached out to local media outlets in hopes of finding out why a fishing line, or something of the sort, has been stretched across downtown Nazareth, according to published reports.

A reader has even asked Nazareth Patch to investigate, and we plan to do just that.

But before we start investigating, our question to readers is:

Are you or someone you know behind the mystery string?

If not, here are a few of Patch's ideas about where the string came from:

• The string was picked up and spread across Nazareth during one of Mother Nature's severe thunderstorms.
• Local teenagers were simply bored and thought it would be amusing. Instead of toilet papering a house, why not drape Nazareth in string? This act is much more subtle and perplexing... and the talk of the town.
• Is this related to "shoefiti"? You may not have heard of this term before, but you've probably all witnessed "shoefiti" in your lifetimes. "Shoefiti" is when a person flings -- usually -- a pair of sneakers over a set of power lines. Some claim "shoefiti" is gang-related, drug-related or an act of bullying. Others believe the reasons behind "shoefiti" are less sinister.
