Try one of these four trips you can enjoy on just one tank of gas -- Main Line Art Center in Haverford, Waltz Golf Farm in Limerick, the Stoogeum in Ambler and the America on Wheels Museum in Allentown.

1. Main Line Art Center

Hours:

  • Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Office hours are Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Gallery hours are Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Summary: Founded in 1937, the Main Line Art Center is a non-profit community art center located on Panmure Road in Haverford. Throughout the year, the Main Line Art Center offers art classes and workshops and even exhibitions of regional artists and educational lectures to art lovers everywhere.

2. Waltz Golf Farm

Address: 303 W. Ridge Pike, Limerick, PA

Admission Fee:

  • Farm Golf: $5 on weekdays; $6 on evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Castle Golf: $6 and $7
  • Par 3: $7.50 and $8.50
  • Driving Range: $7.50 for a medium bucket and $8.50 for a large bucket
  • Batting Cages: $5 for three tokens, $10 for six tokens

Hours:

  • Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Summary: Fun for the entire family has been the motto at Waltz Golf Farm since 1964. Facilities include a batting cage, two miniature golf courses, a driving range and both 18- and nine-hole golf courses. When you're finished practicing your swing and hitting hole-in-ones, there’s a dining area where you can purchase fast food and dessert -- 26 flavors of soft ice cream to choose from!

3. The Stoogeum

Summary: It's been almost four decades since Moe Howard -- the last surviving original member of The Three Stooges -- passed into history, but fond memories of the 20th century's most famous slapstick act live on. Fans of The Three Stooges enjoy free access to a big chunk of their material legacy through Ambler's "Stoogeum," a treasure trove of almost 100,000 pieces of memorabilia. "Stoogeum" is operated by Gary Lassin, whose wife is part of the family of another original Stooge, Larry Fine. The museum has won plaudits from The New York Times, Philadelphia Magazine and the Philadelphia Inquirer.

4. America on Wheels Museum

Address: 5 N. Front St., Allentown, PA

Admission:

  • General Admission: $7
  • Seniors (62+): $5
  • Children 6 to 12: $3.50
  • Children under 6: Free

Hours:

  • Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.  
  • Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day

Summary: America on Wheels showcases everything on wheels from tricycles to racing lawn mowers, sports cars to race cars, antique cars to Mack trucks. The main floor features the museum's permanent exhibit. The second-floor gallery hosts an exhibit that changes every six months. The museum features an orientation theater, interactive displays and a gift shop. All exhibits are wheelchair and stroller accessible, and there is a free parking lot.
