Effort Woman Accused of Submitting Forged Prescription

A Monroe County woman is in Northampton County Prison after she allegedly tried to use a forged presciption to obtain oxycodone pills from the in Lower Nazareth Township, according to .
Danielle K. Savoia, 27, of Effort, allegedly submitted a prescription for 180 oxycodone pills on Nov. 15.
However, the presciption she submitted was issued to another person for a different medication, according to police.

The prescription came from a physician in Randolph, N.J. Wal-Mart pharmacists had previously received a fraudulent prescription from this doctor's office, which made them wonder if the prescription Savoia submitted was forged.
The physician confirmed the pharmacists' suspicions.

A warrant was issued for Savoia and she was arrested during a traffic stop in Brodheadsville, police said.
Savoia was arraigned before District Judge Joseph Barner on Jan. 27 and charged with forgery and acquisition of a controlled substance by forgery.
She was sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $5,000 bail.
