Essroc Agrees to Clean Up Borough Property

Councilman says Nazareth cement company will improve land it owns at Prospect and Phoenix streets.

A lot of people neglect to mow their grass.

Even international cement companies, it seems.

But Essroc has assured officials in Nazareth it will make improvements to a piece of land it owns at Prospect and Phoenix streets, Councilman Charles Donello told his colleagues Monday night.

The grass at the intersection hasn't been cut for several weeks, Donello said. There are also trees damaged by a recent hail storm.

"His comment was: 'They’re always changing who’s in charge of operations there,'" Donello said of his conversation with Essroc. "They weren’t aware they were responsible for the property."

Added Council President Daniel Chiavaroli: "You deal with Essroc this week, next week it’ll be another person."
