Flushing of Local Water System to Begin March 19
Pennsylvania American Water will begin flushing the Nazareth water distribution system on March 19; customers should see no interruption in water service.

Pennsylvania American Water will begin flushing the Nazareth water distribution system on Monday, March 19. The project will continue through the end of April.
The company regularly flushes its water distribution system to ensure that customers continue to receive high-quality water service, according to a press release. Flushing also allows crews to monitor and maintain fire hydrants.
Customers will see no interruption in water service due to flushing, however, customers might experience a drop in water pressure or some discoloration of their water. In the event of an emergency, or if you have a health condition that could be affected by a change in water supply, call Pennsylvania American Water's customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.

Crews will perform flushing Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Flushing will take place in the following areas:
- March 19-27 -- Pen Argyl
- March 19-30 --
- March 19-April 13 --
- March 27-April 9 -- Wind Gap
- March 29-30 --
- April 10-13 --
- April 16-20 -- Forks Township, and Stockertown
- April 23-27 -- Palmer Township and Tatamy
Tips for Customers During Hydrant Flushing
Pennsylvania American Water also recommends several tips to lessen some of the potential, temporary disruptions. Please remember these conditions are temporary and might last only an hour or two after the conclusion of hydrant flushing.Â

- Avoid washing laundry and dishwater use - Water might contain sediment and impair the washing process. Avoid washing laundry, especially whites.
- Check your faucet screen - Loose particles might become trapped in your faucet from the hydrant flushing, which might affect water color and pressure.Â
- Watch for flushing crews - Use caution when driving through an area where crews are working. All employees will have photo ID badges, and their vehicles are identified with the company logo.
